1. Information We Collect

We collect the following information when you use RetroBBS:

• Blockchain address: Your public wallet address (EVM-compatible), used as your account identifier.
• Email address (optional): If you register with email authentication, we store your email address to identify your account and send transactional messages (e.g., login links, 2FA codes). We do not send marketing email without explicit consent.
• In-game activity: Game state, fight history, store purchases, level, XP, gold, and other gameplay data associated with your address.
• Chat messages: Public BBS chat messages are stored in our database and visible to other users.
• Connection metadata: IP address, timestamps, and WebSocket connection data for security, abuse prevention, and operational purposes.
• Legal acknowledgements: The current Terms/Privacy version you accepted, the associated timestamp, and your age/jurisdiction/tax acknowledgement confirmations.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To operate and provide the Service (authentication, game state, reward distribution).
• To enforce daily reward caps and detect abuse or fraud.
• To comply with legal obligations (e.g., record-keeping for token distributions that may be taxable events).
• To monitor service health, investigate errors, and improve the platform.
• To restrict access from prohibited jurisdictions.
• To record and enforce acceptance of current legal terms before access to the BBS.

3. On-Chain Data

Token rewards are distributed via on-chain transactions from our validator wallet. These transactions — including your blockchain address and token amounts — are permanently recorded on RetroChain and HyveChain and are publicly visible. We have no ability to delete or modify on-chain records.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We may share data with:

• Infrastructure providers: Cloud hosting, database, and CDN providers operating under data processing agreements.
• Error monitoring: If Sentry is enabled, error reports (including stack traces and contextual data) may be sent to Sentry.io. We configure Sentry to minimize PII in error payloads.
• Discord integration: If you link a Discord account, your Discord user ID and nickname may be associated with your BBS account for bot features.
• Law enforcement: We may disclose information in response to valid legal process (subpoena, court order, or law enforcement request).

5. Data Retention

• Game state and account data are retained for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward.
• Connection logs are retained for up to 90 days for security purposes.
• Chat messages may be retained indefinitely as part of the public BBS record.
• Token distribution records may be retained indefinitely for compliance purposes.

6. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (TLS), hashed credentials, and access controls. Reward distributions use an in-process mutex and vault circuit breaker to prevent double-distribution. However, no system is perfectly secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

7. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you. To make a request, contact us via the BBS support channel. Note that we cannot delete on-chain records or records required for legal compliance.

9. Cookies and Local Storage

The BBS client stores authentication tokens and preferences in your browser's local storage. We do not use third-party tracking cookies. We do not use advertising networks.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy at this URL with a new "last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
